JPA M&E Consultants is currently engaged in a groundbreaking multi-million project to create the UK’s first Passivhaus hotel at the iconic Runswick Bay site in North Yorkshire. We have been appointed by the Client-led team to spearhead the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) design, collaborating with industry leaders such as Bowman Riley, Silverstone Consulting, and HEXA Consulting on behalf of Cliffemount Hotel.

Runswick Bay, just a few miles north of Whitby, serves as an idyllic summer holiday destination and is also part of the Cleveland Way National Trail. The existing Cliffemount Hotel is undergoing a substantial transformation under the new ownership of Karen Fojt and her family. Their investment program includes a complete redesign of the hotel, which will feature 20 beds, a restaurant, and a bar.

JPA M&E Consultants is a certified member of the Passivhaus Trust, with accredited internal designers specializing in energy-efficient building standards. This project represents a pioneering venture into sustainable hospitality, aiming to set new benchmarks in both environmental responsibility and guest comfort.
